Burraco for 3 players: how to play with three

Burraco is designed for 2 players, one against one, or for 4, in two pairs. With three the numbers don't add up: the teams would be unbalanced. But if there are three of you and you want to play together, there's a simple solution.

Open a table for 4

Three players on FantaCarte: the CPU as the fourth

On FantaCarte Burraco is played with 2 or 4. To play with three, open a private table for 4 and add the CPU to the free seat:

  1. Open a private table of Burraco for 4 and choose the game: 505, 1005 or 2005 points.
  2. Invite your two friends with the 4-letter code or the link, for example on WhatsApp.
  3. Add the CPU to the empty seat with the + CPU button: whoever created the table can do it, before the game starts.

That way you play two pairs against each other, with the real rules of Burraco for pairs: one of you teams up with the CPU.

Three-player variants

At home, with three, some play every man for himself, with three pozzetti; others take turns, with whoever sits out acting as "dummy". These are house variants, with rules that change from family to family. Online the cleanest solution is still the one with the CPU: classic rules and no arguing about who's right.

What changes when playing in pairs

The differences between playing with two and in pairs are explained in Burraco for 2 or 4 players.

And if there are two or four of you

With two you play one against one; with four, two pairs, all people. Either way you'll find the full rules on the Burraco rules page.
