Scala 40 online for free with friends, no sign-up
Scala 40 is the perfect game for two: quick, full of twists and with rules everyone knows. On FantaCarte you play it online with a friend, each on your own phone or computer, for free and without installing anything.
How to play with a friend, in 3 steps
- Join www.fantacarte.it as a guest with a nickname, or with Google or an email address.
- Open a private Scala 40 table: the game gives you a 4-letter code.
- Send the code or the link to your friend, for example on WhatsApp. As soon as you're both seated, the game starts.
During the game you can write to each other in the table chat, or play on a video call. If you've already added your friend in the game, you can invite them directly and see when they're online.
Why Scala 40 is the right game for two
- Short rounds: you play round by round and whoever reaches 101 points loses. A game lasts as long as a coffee or a whole evening, as you prefer.
- Every move counts: opening with 40 points, the card picked up from the discards that must be used straight away, the joker to take back from the table.
- Closing in hand: whoever opens and closes in the same turn makes the opponent pay double.
The rules as played on FantaCarte
Two French decks and 4 jokers, 13 cards each. You meld runs in the same suit and three or four of a kind in different suits, with only one joker per meld; 2s are normal cards. To open you need at least 40 points melded in the same turn. After opening you can pick up the last discard (to be used straight away) and add cards to every meld on the table. Whoever closes takes no points, the other player takes the points in their hand, or 100 if they hadn't opened. All the details are in the Scala 40 rules.
Made a wrong move? Until you discard, Cancel takes the turn back.
No friend free tonight?
You can play against the computer, which follows the same rules and doesn't see your cards, or sit at a table opened by other players. Every other evening there's also the Scala 40 evening tournament at 9 pm.
